Photography-based documentary work

about children´s imaginary friends

Did you know that 65 % of us have or have once had an imaginary friend? When children get to decide for themselves whom they befriend, families share their lives with all types of characters, from Belgian gangsters to mall-loitering rockteens and hiccoughing mice.

The Invisibles book was published in October 2016 and in addition to the photographic stories, the book also includes an assignment section that aims to inspire parents to get acquainted with their child’s imaginary friends and imaginary worlds. Read more about the project and book from www.projectinvisibles.com

Last picture is illustrated and edited by Taru Happonen, who also made the graphic design of the Invisibles book.
